About e-Yantra
The main goal of e-Yantra project is to develop core engineering skills in our students to inspire them to look upon themselves as “problem solvers for society” and also to train the students in advanced level, to make them on a par with industry needs. It is an inter-disciplinary project comprising of Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering and Electronics and Instrumentation. Keeping this in mind, a workshop on e-Yantra as the second phase of Quality Improvement Cell for the students of all affiliated Engineering colleges of Anna University was conducted.
Project E-Yantra was conceptualized by Prof. Kavi Arya and Prof. Krithi Ramamritham, at IIT Bombay. The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) to spread education in the area of Embedded systems and Robotics in the country. This includes teaching, conducting workshops, competitions, knowledge dissemination through open source courseware and facilitating the setting up of robotics laboratories in colleges.
e-Yantra encourages students and helps them emerge as true engineers and prepare them for a career in research or as technology entrepreneurs. e-Yantra also conducts competitions through which the students’ talent is identified and nurtured. It also improves their communication skills. e-Yantra also lends itself to motivating exciting B.E. projects where students get to learn through hands-on experience with the robots.
